The PFNA has a medial-lateral angle of 6°. This allows insertion at the tip of the greater trochanter. Compaction of cancellous bone while inserting the PFNA blade provides additional anchoring, which is especially important in osteoporotic bone.
The PFNA blade screw offers higher cut-out resistance than standard screws. Its 130° angle with the nail provides better ergonomics.
Static or dynamic locking is done via the aiming arm for all PFNA types. The long nail also supports secondary dynamization.
